The Story of the Skills Academy

Growing up, Casey attended several skills academies, which propelled him to find his love for the game of basketball. In these clinics, Casey was able to meet and learn from notable instructors who had a positive influence on his basketball career.

Now that Casey is playing on the highest level of collegiate athletics, it has been a mission of his to return the favor to the next generation. This skills academy has years of knowledge from Casey and others who have played at the highest level.

There are many different components that go into being a well-rounded student-athlete at the highest level. Each camper will be mentored and coached by a current or former member of the NC State Men’s and Women’s Basketball Team.

Campers will receive a behind-the-scenes experience of a Division 1 student-athlete which will include film sessions with their favorite players, meeting with NCSU nutritionists on eating properly, and NCSU strength and conditioning coaches on how to maintain their body for a long season. Essentially, these were the 3 major aspects that propelled the NC State Men’s team to win an ACC Championship and make a Final 4 Appearance.

This experience is valuable because less than one percent of high school athletes go on to play Division 1 basketball. Understanding and learning from the experiences of notable collegiate athletes can serve as great value.

The Casey Morsell Skills Academy is a basketball camp that is open to all players between the ages of 8 to 14. Campers can expect to engage in multiple drills, fun competitions, and skill development with current and former members of the NC State Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams.

In addition, to personal coaching and small group training from expert basketball personnel, each camper will receive lunch, hydration, a Morsell T-shirt, exclusive raffle entry, access to on-site equipment, and more.

There is also guaranteed to be a notable special guest that will serve as a motivational speaker. Torin Dorn, former Wolfpack and founder of “Speak Victory”, spoke and shared his knowledge with the campers at the 2023 Skills Academy.

Mary Eliza had an amazing week at the CM skills academy! Being one of only three girls at camp didn’t phase her at all. She’s definitely a beginner but it was easy to recognize the huge improvement she made throughout the week.
I was also very impressed with the level of organization and wide array of topics (importance of nutrition, recovery, etc) discussed with the kids. Mary Eliza has asked if she can attend again next summer.

This experience was one of the best for my son BY FAR! He enjoyed getting up every day to come to the CM skills academy. This says alot considering my teen typically prefers to sleep in during the summer months. He was up and ready for camp and looked forward to it everyday!
Everything was 10 out of 10.....The communication from the time we signed up, the first day check in process, pick up was a breeze, the engagement between the staff and campers in addition to the daily picture updates were an unexpected pleasant surprise.
The only critique.....We wish that this academy was held longer than 1 week. I would gladly had my son enrolled longer. I will certainly recommend others to attend this academy in the future! Thank you!

Hands down their favorite camp of the summer. Great coaching on fundamentals, positivity and just having fun. Casey's programming with multiple elements of nutrition, full games and guest speakers kept the kids engaged and energized about coming back.
